Australia has released at least four players from its Test squad for making their availability for the Big Bash League 2021-22. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh, wicket-keeper Josh Inglis, spinner Mitchell Swepson, and pacer Michael Neser will get to join their respective BBL squads.
Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat will benefit from this development as the quartet will board the flight from Hobart to Melbourne on the upcoming Sunday. ESPN CricInfo reported that both Swepson and Neser will also be available for Brisbane Heat’s upcoming match against Melbourne Stars on Sunday.
The duo’s presence will boost the Brisbane Heat squad who are floating second from the bottom in the BBL 2021-22 points table. Hopefully, their presence would help the side win all their next three matches to stay alive in the tournament and reach the finals. Brisbane Heat has had a poor campaign so far, having managed to win only 3 matches out of 11. Brisbane Heat is coming into the game on the back of three consecutive losses. They suffered a 71-run defeat in their last game at the hands of Adelaide Strikers.
On the other hand, Scorchers, already enjoying the top place in the ongoing BBL 2021-22, will look to have the position cemented at no. 1 with the inclusion of Marsh and Inglis. Marsh played a crucial role in the early stages of the tournament and even won three of the five Player of the match titles he’s played for the side this season.
His scores for Scorchers before joining the Australian Test team were 100*, 86 & 42*, and four wickets with the ball. Both Inglis and Marsh are set to be available for the January 17 clash with Brisbane Heat at Melbourne. Their presence will strengthen their chances to lift the BBL 2021-22 title this year.
