Manchester United full-back, Wan Bissaka and Aston Villa center-back, Tyrone Mings have won their first England call-ups for the upcoming European Qualifiers.

Wan-Bissaka moved to Old Trafford this summer from Crystal Palace. The full-back took part in the Under-21 squad in June’s age-grade European Championships.

Tyron Mings, 26, has made an assured start in his career at the villa since joining on loan in January.

Defender, Kyle Walker, winner of 48 caps, will not participate in this years’ EURO.

Gareth Southgate’s side is preparing for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo. The match will take place on  7th and 10th September respectively.

Of the two new faces, Gareth said, “Tyron’s an interesting case as he entered the game a bit later and hasn’t played as much as a center-back.”

“He had a big injury at Bournemouth but I like his leadership qualities. Tyron is an outstanding athlete with potential given the number of games he has played.”

“Aaron Bissaka adapted very well to a high-profile move with the intensity and pressure.”

Among the 25-man squad is Chelsea’s playmaker Mason Mount and Liverpool winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Chamberlain’s last England appearance was in a 1-1 friendly draw against Italy in March 2018. A month before he damaged knee ligaments when playing for his club.

29-year-old Walker is a right-back. Unfortunately, during England’s run to the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2018, he faced deployment as a central defender.

Wan-Bissaka call up and Atletico Madrid’s former Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier being recalled after being drooped for the Nations League finals contributes to his imitation.

Left outs?

Tottenham pair Dele Alli and Eric Dier, Everton’s Fabian Delph and Manchester City defender John Stones are left out with injury problems. Ashley Barnes, the Burnley striker, missing out as well.

The 29-year-old will play for Austria which he represented at the under-20 level.

In a Nutshell

England’s manager Gareth Southgate is looking to the future while taking a step back into the past with his squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Exclusion of Manchester City’s Kyle Walker to make way for a first call up for Manchester United summer signing Wan Bissaka is a big surprise. It will be a major talking point.
