Blaise Matuidi tests positive for coronavirus
Juventus midfielder, Blaise Matuidi, has become the second to test positive for the coronavirus following the center-back Daniele Rugani last week.
Franc World Cup winner, Blaise Matuidi has been in voluntary isolation since 11th March and is “well and asymptomatic.”
Matuidi, 32, is the second Juventus player to be confirmed to have the virus following the center-back Daniele Rugani last week.
He has urged his fans to “take care” in a post on Instagram during the weekend.
“it’s a complicated time. In the beginning, I didn’t really realize how serious this disease was and the danger. How fast the contagion spread here in Italy.” Said Matuidi.
“In this difficult time for all of us, I just wanted to invite you to follow the official recommendations carefully. Take great care of yourself and your loved ones.”
“A lot of encouragement and infinite thanks to all the medical and nursing staff. We are with you.”
The midfielder has played 31 times in all competitions this season including the 2-0 win over the title rivals Inter Milan.
Juventus duo, Matuidi and Rugani are just two of a number of confirmed cases in the Italian top flight.
Rugani has since revealed that he has improved in his recovery from the COVID-19. However, there are still remains huge concerns over the pandemic which has affected thousands of people worldwide.
In total, 13 Serie A players have officially been diagnosed with the illness including seven from Sampdoria and three at Fiorentina.
Italian midfielder, Zaccagni, had already been isolated as a precautionary measure after Verona played Sampdoria on March 8.
“Zaccagni is doing well. In recent days, he has only had a few bouts of fever.” Reported club Verona.
“The player, as well as the whole team, will extend voluntary isolation at home until March 25 while continuing to be monitored.”
All domestic sporting activity in Italy has been suspended until at least 3rd April.
