Former goalkeeper Brad Friedel says US linebacker Weston McKennie is the best center linebacker the US has ever had and should be the player the Spurs want to sign.

How was everything?

Weston McKennie, who is on duty at the 2022 World Cup with the United States, is currently trading his club in Italy with Serie A giants Bianconeri. There have been talks in the past of a move to England and the former USMNT star thinks the countryman would be a prudent addition to the Conte ranks in north London.

What did Friedel say about Weston McKennie?

The former American goalkeeper, who spent four years at Tottenham between 2011 and 2015 earning 82 caps for his country, said that if the finances work, the Spurs should definitely go for Weston McKennie. According to Brad Friedel, McKennie is the best central midfielder the US has ever had. Against England Weston showed his quality and Brad thinks he will be a brilliant addition to any big side in Europe.

A little about the topic

While discussing the current star on the field for the USA, Brad also spoke about coaching matters and feels that the man leading the Peacocks will be targeted by the USA if Berhalter moves on after the World Cup final in Qatar.

Brad Friedel added that he didn’t really talk to Gregg Berhalter about his future. Although Gregg is still young and may even consider returning to club football. According to the American coach, Berhalter will train somewhere, as he is a really good coach. Friedel doesn’t know what the US Football Federation’s plans are, but if he makes it out of the group, then so be it.

He says that if there was a vacancy in the future, Jesse Marsch would certainly be one to consider, but he understands that he has no intention of entering the international scene. If the work came along, Brad is sure it would be a name that counts.
