Brendan Rodgers has left Leicester by mutual consent following a seven-game winless run that left the club in the relegation zone.

Leicester lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace on Saturday extending their miserable run. This has now encompassed to six defeats and one draw in their last seven games across all competitions. The result also saw Leicester drop into the bottom three.

From their last six Premier League matches, Leicester has picked up only one point. Similarly, they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Championship side Blackburn Rovers in fifth round. The weeken loss at Selhurst Park has brought the four-year rein of Rodgers at the Foxes to an end.

Rodgers took over Leicester in February 2019 when he left Scottish giants Celtic to replace Claude Puel in the dugout. The club finished fifth in successive campaigns in the Northern Irishamn’s first two full seasons.

However, Rodgers had his side in the top four for the majority of both seasons. Despite that, the 2020/21, he guided the club to the FA Cup trophy where he beat Chelsea. The club added the community Shield title the following year.

Now without Rodgers, the club’s long-serving first team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will oversee the first-team training until a successor is appointed.  His assistant Chris Davies and fitness coach Glen Driscoll will also leave the club.

Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha had this to say, “the achievements of the team under Brendan’s management speak for themselves. We’ve experienced some of our finest footballing moments under his guidance and will always be grateful to him and his staff for the heights they helped us to reach on the pitch”.

“Off the pitch, Brendan embraced the culture of the Club. He helped cultivate an outstanding developmental environment particularly during tthe transition to Seagrave. He provided strong leadership during the unprecedented challenge of the coronavirus pandemic. His place in Leicester City history is assured”.
