Bruno Fernandes considers Paul Scholes to be the best English midfielder.
Portugal and Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandez spoke to the media about the players he watched as a child, including the legendary Red Devils midfielder Paul Scholes.
“Maybe I’m most like Paul Scholes in my style of play. Paul used to go into the penalty area often, make assists and score a lot of goals.
I think he was one of the best midfielders in the world. If we talk only about England, many mention Frank Lampard, who scored too many goals. Of course, it is also one of the best. We should not forget Stephen Gerrard either, but I believe that Paul, among them, could have influenced the outcome the most.
Before I start discussing this, I would like to point out that not all English midfielders are being watched. However, I think things from the last generation made this trio really stand out. “I think the best of them is Paul Scholes,” Fernandez said.
Recall that Paul Scholes devoted his entire professional football career to Manchester United, where he played from 1993 to 2013 and scored 155 goals in 718 appearances. Together with the Red Devils, he became the English Premier League champion 11 times.
As for Bruno Fernandez, the Portuguese moved to Old Trafford during the winter transfer window this year and was soon able to gain the trust of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Portuguese scored 18 goals in 33 matches.
