Bukayo Saka of Arsenal is the only Premier League player to make the ten-man Kopa Trophy shortlist at the Ballon d’Or awards.
Jude Bellingham, Saka’a’s England teammate, is also among the nominees hoping to be named the world’s greatest U21 player.
The roster is completed by Karim Adeyemi, Eduardo Camavinga, Gavi, Ryan Gravenberch, Nuno Mendes, Jamal Musaila, Josko Gvardiol, and Florian Wirtz.
Last season, the Arsenal winger had a standout season for Mikel Arteta’s side, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists as the Gunners finished fifth.
Saka has become an important member of Arteta’s team after breaking into the first team in 2019, scoring 23 goals in 123 games.
The 20-year-old was named Arsenal’s Player of the Season for 2021-22 and is looking for another individual award this evening.
Despite his achievement, Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga appears to be the favorite to win the honor, having played a key role in Los Blancos’ Champions League victory last year.
Meanwhile, German clubs Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have the most nominees in the category, with two apiece.
In addition to the Kopa Trophy, the shortlists for the Yacine Trophy and the Women’s Balon d’Or have been revealed.
Yassine Bounou, Alisson Becker, Thibaut Courtois, Ederson, Mike Maignan, Edouard Mendy, Manuel Neuer, Jan Oblak, Kevin Trapp, and Hugo Lloris are among the candidates for the Yacine Trophy.
Alexandra Popp, Aitana Bonmat, Wendie Renard, Alex Morgan, Beth Mead, Asisat Oshoala, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Millie Bright, Trinity Rodman, and Ada Hegerberg are among the women on the Women’s Balon d’Or shortlist.
