The Red Bull Arena has been a sanctuary for the hosts though, having secured a whopping 15 of their 18 league points here, despite already equaling the number of home league losses they endured throughout the entirety of last season.

RB Leipzig

It’s easy to forget that RB Leipzig have only been in the Bundesliga since the 2016/17 season, as they’ve quickly established themselves as top-four contenders year-on-year, but given their ‘villain’ status in German football realms, many will be pleased that Leipzig are on a three-game losing streak for the first time in their short top-flight history. They might also raise a cheer that the Red Bulls begin matchday 15 in 11th place, the fourth-lowest league ranking they’ve held heading into a round of Bundesliga action since promotion. The Red Bull Arena has been a sanctuary for the hosts though, having secured a whopping 15 of their 18 league points here, despite already equaling the number of home league losses they endured throughout the entirety of last season.

Home ground advantage proved its worth again in midweek European action, with Leipzig defeating Premier League champions Manchester City 2-1, despite an empty stadium due to Covid-19.

Gladbach

Visiting Borussia Monchengladbach have followed closely in Leipzig’s footsteps, as they sit level on points with an identical record after 14 matches. The ‘Foals’ have made history in their last two fixtures, albeit for all the wrong reasons, as they conceded four goals in the second half against Köln, only to then find themselves 6-0 down against Freiburg by half-time in the last round – the first time since 1978 that a Bundesliga side has trailed 6-0 at the break! A trip to Leipzig won’t help with lifting spirits in the Gladbach dressing room as they’ve failed to win their last five visits to the Red Bull Arena. In fact, Gladbach have found themselves on the losing end in six of their ten top-flight fixtures against Leipzig, their highest losing rate among all active Bundesliga sides.

Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku will be licking his lips here, having scored twice and assisting once in his three matches against Gladbach, whose very own Jonas Hofmann has five goal contributions in his last four games for club and country. Leipzig have scored eight league goals between the 61st and 75th minute – only Bayern match them in that regard.
