Even now the match was not out of Kolkata’s radar but Chahal created history by taking three wickets in the last three balls of the 17th over.

Chahal sent captain Shreyas Iyer on the fourth ball of the over. Shivam Mavi on the fifth ball and Pat Cummins on the last ball. This was the 21st hat-trick taken in the IPL. Chahal took 5 wickets for 40 runs in 4 overs.

Umesh Yadav brought twist in the match. Kolkata’s score was 4 for 178 after 16 overs, which became 8 for 180 after the 17th over.

Now Rajasthan’s grip on the match seemed strong, but then in the 18th over. Umesh Yadav hit a total of 20 runs with two sixes and a four and the team’s score reached 200 runs. Now the target was just 18 runs away from Kolkata’s reach.

After 7 runs in the 19th over, the match reached the last over where Kolkata needed 11 runs to win and Rajasthan took two wickets.

Captain Sanju Samson gave the last over to McCoy playing his first match. McCoy put the match in Rajasthan’s bag by taking wickets on the second and fourth balls.

Kolkata’s first wicket fell without an account –

Kolkata openers Aaron Finch and Sunil Narine came out to chase 218 runs. But on the very first ball, Sunil Narine was run out without opening an account.

After this, Finch and captain Shreyas Iyer handled the innings firmly. Both completed their half-centuries and added 107 runs for the second wicket in just nine overs.

Finch played a blistering innings of 58 runs with the help of 9 fours and 2 sixes before being dismissed by famous Krishna.

Iyer played the captaincy innings – Finch’s quick half-century got the team off to a good start but the target was still too far. In such a situation, captain Shreyas Iyer on one end. Meanwhile, Nitish Rana (18), Andre Russell (0) and Venkatesh Iyer (6) returned to the pavilion.

Before getting caught in Yuzvendra Chahal’s spin, Iyer played a brilliant 85 off 51 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 7 fours, but in the 17th over, 4 wickets, including Chahal’s hat-trick, ruined his innings.

Buttler Scored his 2nd IPL 2022 Hundred

Elected to bat after losing the toss, Rajasthan- Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bowl first. Losing the toss and opting to bat, Rajasthan Royals had a great start.

Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal, who came out to open, gave a great start to the team. Both the batsmen added 60 runs in the powerplay while collecting quick runs.

Both the openers added 97 runs for the first wicket. Padikkal scored 24 runs in 18 balls and lost his wicket in the 10th over of the innings.

Meanwhile, Buttler completed his half-century in 29 balls and carried on with Captain Sanju Samson. Another century from Butler – Butler and Sanju Samson added a quick 67 runs for the second wicket.

Samson added 38 runs in 19 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 3 fours. When the captain of Rajasthan was out in 16 overs, the team’s score had reached 164 and Butler was standing on the crease.

Butler completed the second century of IPL 2022 and scored 103 runs in 61 balls with the help of 9 fours and 5 sixes. When Cummins took Butler’s wicket in the fourth ball of the 17th over, the team’s score was 183 runs.

Hetmyer also showed his hands openly and scored 26 unbeaten runs in just 13 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 2 fours. Rajasthan’s team’s score was 5 wickets for 217 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.

Kolkata’s bowling did not work – except Sunil Narine, no bowler from Kolkata could leave an impact. Sunil took 2 wickets for just 21 runs in 4 overs, apart from this Shivam Mavi, Pat Cummins and Andre Russell also took one wicket each but for this he wasted a lot of runs.
