Camavinga goes off
The summer horn of 2021 almost sounded when Madrid announced the signing of Eduardo Camavinga. An operation of 30 million euros (with the option to reach 45 depending on certain variables) on the last day of the market to acquire an 18-year-old talent (now 19) who was endorsed by his ability to burn stages and break records at all trains with the Rennes. In his first course on the Paseo de la Castellana he did not take long to endorse that condition. The jump from the Rhenish team to white was supreme, but the team from Cabinda, with football as happy and carefree as the smile that has conquered the Madrid fans, has shaken off the pressure. Now, he faces what must be his confirmation year.and has the support, in addition to sensations, of artificial intelligence. Olocip, a company specialized in the field applied to football, estimates that its market value will skyrocket in 2022-23: from the 52.8 million euros at which it is currently valued at 90.8… So far, his progress has been brilliant. In the white club he has already landed with several historical records in his suitcase of achievements . He was 16 years, four months and 27 days old when he made his Ligue 1 debut, the youngest to do so with Rennes. His start in 2019-20 was thunderous. At 16 years and 281 days he was the youngest to provide an assist in the French first division. And against PSG, in a clash where he dominated the Parisian midfield with an insulting solvency, beyond dates of birth. Both milestones drew the greatest of all, the award for best player of the month in Ligue 1 in September, something unprecedented at his age. Shortly after he would debut as a scorer against Lyon. Again, the youngest to achieve it. In 2020 the records would arrive with France. On September 8, at the age of 17 years, nine months and 29 days, he made his debut under Deschamps in a victory against Croatia in the Nations League (4-2): the third-earliest debut with Les Bleus and the youngest in more than 100 years. In the following break he would score a goal in the 7-1 against Ukraine, winning the silver medal in that aspect in the history of the French senior. Camavinga usually lands on his feet and in Madrid he did too.
From records to challenges
It took him six minutes to score his first goal as a Madridista (fifth fastest to debut as a scorer in the club’s history). He came out for Hazard in minute 66 against Celta on matchday four and in minute 72 he was already celebrating. Three days later, he debuted in the Champions League against Inter at the San Siro. He replaced Modric in the 80th minute and in the 89th minute he assisted Rodrygo in the winning goal (0-1). Once again, he came kissing the saint. Throughout the season he went through valleys of form, especially between December and February, when he only played three of nine games in the league. One was lost due to accumulation of cards, his biggest debt of the course and, perhaps, his biggest edge. That impetus that gives him a reactive character to his appearances is sometimes a double-edged sword: he received 11 yellow cards in 1,696 minutes (40 games). Something to work on. However, he knew how to control himself when his participation was really imperative and he signed veteran performances. Like the day of the City , when the sacred cows (Casemiro, Modric and Kroos) were on the bench and he pulled his herculean spirit to give solidity to the white midfield in the miracle that set course for the final. The pressure does not go with him. “I am someone who experiences things with a bit of detachment. Before I had too much pressure! From the moment you understand what you can and what you should do on the pitch, everything changes”, he acknowledged in France Football in May. There he was already settled in Ancelotti’s rotation facing the decisive stretch (he participated in the last five Champions League games). Aware of his debut, he added another, a beautifully crafted shoe against Real Sociedad and accumulated 16 starts in all competitions in his first season at Madrid. He, in addition to decorating his showcase with the League, Champions League and Spanish Super Cup.
