Carlo Ancelotti and his Real Madrid team are frightening. Their numbers and how they are approaching the crucial part of the season speak of careful and skilful management of the squad, reaching the maximum level of intensity when it matters most. Antonio Pintus, the fitness coach, brought back by the club, and the rest of the coaching staff, are also a fundamental part of the team that is very close to lifting what would be LaLiga Santander title number 35. Real Madrid, with five matchdays to go, are the most dominant LaLiga leaders since the three-points-per-win rule came into effect. At this point of the season, no team has been 15 points clear, nor or 12 points clear – the gap that Barcelona can stay within if they beat Rayo Vallecano.

Ancelotti’s charges have won the most games

Ancelotti’s side are the best Real Madrid team since the 2016-17 campaign when they had 78 points on Matchday 33 but were only six points clear of second place. The title ended up in the Real Madrid museum. The current Real Madrid team, Champions League aside and forgetting the enormous gap to second place, speaks of a strong, confident team capable of handling decisive matches, except for the 4-0 defeat in El Clasico. Ancelotti’s charges have won the most games (24), compared to 18 for Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. They have won 13 of those matches away from the Estadio Bernabeu, compared to eight for Betis and Barcelona, making them the best away side. Eleven home wins are the same as Sevilla and Atletico.

Lost just once in front of their own fans – against Barcelona – as have Sevilla, which was against Real Madrid. They have three defeats, one less than Lopetegui’s team and two less than Barcelona. Ancelotti’s side are LaLiga’s top scorers with 69 goals, eight more than Barcelona. Sevilla have conceded 27 goals, two fewer than Courtois in the Los Blancos goal. At the moment, the Zamora would go to Rulli with a percentage of conceding 0.86 goals per game, followed by Remiro with 0.87, with Courtois in third place with 0.88. Karim Benzema’s 25 goals lead the race for the Pichichi (he is also the top assist maker with 11), followed by Enes Unal and Raul de Tomas with 15 goals. Vinicius has 14, while Asensio is the third-highest scorer at Real Madrid with nine.
