After bagging his first win as FC Barcelona’s manager, the recently arrived coach spoke to the press and addressed the story about ‘Kun’ Aguero.

According to Xavi, the rumours about Aguero’s retirement are inaccurate

Earlier on Saturday, Catalan media reported that Sergio Aguero decided to hang up his boots, but Xavi Hernandez has different information. After bagging his first win as FC Barcelona’s manager, the recently arrived coach spoke to the press and addressed the story about ‘Kun’ Aguero. As it turns out, there must be some confusion between the ones who are deciding to speak about the Argentine player’s decision publicly. Xavi just said the reports are inaccurate, but a player who shared time with Aguero and often speaks to him is saying the exact opposite. Xavi wanted to talk about this because it’s obviously the most shocking news in world football. His intention is probably to help all Barcelona supporters feel hopeful that Sergio Aguero can return. However, this can easily be considered a double-edged sword because the ones with the absolute truth are only ‘Kun’ and the doctors.

Those at Barcelona are still hoping Aguero can come back and play football

Here’s what Xavi told the media right after Saturday’s win against Espanyol: “About ‘Kun’ Aguero, I don’t know anything new; I spoke with him the other day, he was relaxed. What came out is not true. We have to wait and see, but we are still hoping he can come back and play football.” Samir Nasri is the footballer who spoke earlier on Saturday with the media, saying he received a direct text from Aguero that confirmed he is, in fact, retiring. The dialogue happened during an exchange with Canal in France, and Nasri somehow got the slip because surely Aguero didn’t want to reveal anything yet. Elsewhere, Argentine journalist Veronica Brunati goes down Xavi’s path by stating ‘Kun’ is not planning to retire yet.

He wants to continue working with doctors and hoping to be back on the pitch within a few months. In the end, there seems to be confusion about Aguero’s actual decision, but Xavi seemed convinced of what he said to the press.
