Uruguay international Edison Cavani makes a U-turn and signs a one-year contract extension that will keep him till 2022 summer.
The Manchester United number Seven reveals he has developed a great affection for the club and everything it represents. Recently, rumors linked the veteran striker to native South American outfit Boca Juniors but he opts to stay at United.
After signing the contract, the 34-year old explains the reason behind his Manchester United U-turn.
“Over the season, I have developed a great affection for the club and everything that it represents,” Cavani said.
“I feel a deep bond with my teammates and the staff who work behind the scenes here. They give me extra motivation every day and I know that, together, we can achieve special things,” he explains.
Also, Cavani claims he was moved by his teammates and that contributed to the contract extension stay.
“I have been really touched and moved by the lads in the dressing room, saying stuff like: ‘Edi, you can’t go, Stay, stay, we love you. We don’t want you to leave’,” the former Paris Saint Germain forward added.
“You know, honestly and sincerely, that does give you that extra motivation to want to stay somewhere and gives you a real lift.
“So I was really touched by that,” Cavani claimed.
However, Cavani says the united supporters touched him. He pointed the fact that he has never had a chance to play in front of the fans.
He pointed, “I have been touched with how much the supporters have wanted me to stay. And I will give everything to bring them happiness and joy with my performances on the field.
“I’ve not yet been able to play in front of the Old Trafford crowd and that’s something that I cannot wait to do,” he concluded.
