Tuchel met with the 22-year-old defender to tell him that he is no longer available on loan and that he wants his future to be with Chelsea.

Why Trevoh Chalobah?

Clubs such as Lille, Valencia and Bruges have all expressed interest in signing Trevoh Chalobah on loan, but are determined to be recaptured. After meeting, the Blues chiefs now need to meet with their representatives to renew the contract, which has less than two years to run. The West Londoners Academy graduate has always been ranked highly internally at Stamford Bridge, but has not received as much attention externally as others passing through the system.

After spending two seasons on loan at Ipswich and Huddersfield in the Championship, Chalobah excelled on loan in Ligue 1 with Lorient. Upon his return, he stood out in three straight preseason games against Arsenal, Tottenham and Bournemouth. The defender still had to go on loan for another season, but his 120-minute executive against Villarreal and then his Premier League scoring debut against Crystal Palac proved to be transformative off-screen.

The Blues did not plan to hold Trevoh Chalobah

Chelsea had no plans to hold Trevoh and even approached Seville to sign Kounde. The chance remains that Chelsea could come back strong for a valued defender of £ 68m, but that may depend on the future of others. Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are locked in active contract negotiations with the European champions. In the meantime, Zouma was being offered to clubs including West Ham and Sevilla and could be overwhelmed.

Ampadu also persists around the first team created and can play in defense or center. Chelsea is not yet ready to accept loan offers for Welsh International, which has a chance to make up Thomas Tuchel’s squad this season. Chelsea was also able to send numerous players on loan with Palmieri joining Lyon, Miazga to join the Alaves in La Liga and Dujon Sterling in negotiations with multiple clubs.

Zappacosta is in advanced negotiations for a permanent move with both Fiorentina and Atalanta. Likewise, Tiemoue Bakayoko is in talks with AC Milan, although the board has proven to be a persistent stumbling block. Ugbo had a last minute offer from Marseille that thwarted an almost definite move to Genk, where medical care was even booked.
