Todd Boehly’s group was declared the preferred bidder by the Raine Group, the bank supervising the sale, in the early hours of the morning, allowing him to finalize his £4.25 billion buy Chelsea hence wants to offer new deals to Mason Mount and Reece James.

Boehly beat out companies led by Stephen Pagluica and Sir Martin Broughton, as well as a £4.2 billion bid from Britain’s richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. According to writer Ben Jacobs, the Blues’ soon-to-be owner has already set his eyes on the first-team squad, with in-form players James and Mount expected to sign new contracts. This season, James has stood out with a string of outstanding performances, while Mount has been as important to boss Thomas Tuchel.

Indeed, Mount has 12 goals and 15 assists in all competitions, assisting Chelsea to third place in the Premier League and two cup final appearances. It’s no wonder that Boehly is determined to safeguard their long-term careers at Stamford Bridge, given their importance to the club’s future.

Several elite teams have indicated an interest in the England duo amid the uncertainties surrounding the fines levied on Roman Abramovich.

With Abramovich in the limelight, Chelsea were unable to award new contracts or sign new players, but this will change under their new board.

Meanwhile, Marcos Alonso is expected to join Barcelona at the conclusion of the season, albeit the same source claims his move is ‘not a done deal yet.’ The defender is said to be prepared to wait until Boehly formally takes over the reins before making a decision on his future.

Meanwhile, Boehly is set to arrive at Stamford Bridge this afternoon. On Friday night, he was photographed outside the ground in west London.

In his consortium, he has teamed up with fellow Dodgers owner Mark Walter, Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, and investment firm Clearlake Capital.

All that is needed for the takeover to be completed is government permission.
