Chennai Super Kings have almost confirmed their place in the IPL qualifiers by registering a decisive win over Delhi Capitals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. This was Delhi’s seventh defeat since the last time they won on this ground in 2010.

After winning the toss, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to bat first. He had anticipated that this pitch would help the spinners and it would be a bit difficult to bat in the second innings and there was no hope of due coming.

In the first 6 overs, Chennai got off to a good start, scoring 48 runs and losing only Devon Conway’s wicket. But in the space of their next 5 overs, Chennai lost 3 wickets for 30 runs, due to which at one time it seemed that they would not be able to score even 150 runs.

If Gujarat Titans lose to Mumbai Indians tomorrow, Then Chennai can win their next match and go to the first place in the points table.

But Shivam Dubey scored 25 off 12 balls and provided a little momentum to the team and after that Ravindra Jadeja and Ambati Rayudu also played a good innings. But once again the finishing touch was given by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who scored 20 runs in 9 balls.

Delhi had a target of 168 runs to win but they did not get a good start. In the very first over, Delhi Capitals captain David Warner have his catch in the hands of Ajinkya Rahane at 0. After that, Phil Salt played a couple of good shots but got out after scoring 17 runs.

The decisive moment of the match was Mitchell Marsh’s runout, Marsh had to lose his wicket due to a wrong call from Manish Pandey. After that, Delhi could not put itself ahead in the run chase even once.

Manish Pandey and Rilee Russo shared a 59-run partnership in 59 balls, but as soon as Pathirana dismissed Pandey for 27 runs, the match was completely caught by Chennai.

Chennai Super Kings spinners bowled amazingly

Moeen Ali bowled his 4 overs spell continuously between 6 and 14 overs and gave only 16 runs. Ravindra Jadeja, who was awarded the Player of the Match award, took the crucial wicket of Rilee Russo for 19 runs in four overs.

Both spinners hit only two boundaries in total and did not give Manish Pandey and Rilee Russo any chance to score runs at the crease.

Delhi’s spin bowlers also performed well today, mainly Axar Patel took two wickets for 28 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket for 28 runs.

When Axar Patel came to bat, Delhi needed 59 runs from 18 balls to win, so he also played some good shots and scored 21 runs in 11 balls. But by then the match had gone out of Delhi’s grip. Eventually, The Delhi team lost the match by 27 runs.
