CSK vs PBKS

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a defeat at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The team has lost all its three matches so far this season. Their opponent of the match, Punjab Kings registered their second victory in three matches.

Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and elected to bowl first. Punjab Kings lost 2 wickets at 15. However, Liam Livingstone went berserk and scored 60 off 32 balls. Due to his effort, Punjab Kings scored 180 runs in 20 overs. It looked to be an easy chase for Chennai Super Kings but half of the team was back in the dugout before the 8th over.

After 12 overs, Chennai Super Kings scored 69 runs for the loss of five wickets. At the time, Shivam Dubey was batting on 34 runs in 19 balls and Dhoni with 7 runs in 13 balls. CSK needed 112 runs from 48 balls which looked unattainable because Punjab Kings bowled very tightly.  Consequently, Chennai’s team was all out for 126 runs in 18 overs.

Only Shivam Dubey scored a half-century for. He played an innings of 57 runs in 30 balls. Also, It was his second half-century of his IPL career in 25 balls.

Captain Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali couldn’t open their run accounts. Seven Chennai Super Kings batsmen could not even touch the double figure. Rahul Chahar took three wickets for Punjab Kings. Grabbing the opportunity, Vaibhav Aroda and Liam Livingstone took two wickets each.

Clearly, this is the worst start in IPL for Chennai Super Kings. Before this, the team has never lost three matches in a row. Punjab Kings is the third team to defend the target in this IPL. Earlier Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans have done this.

Chennai Super Kings got the eighth blow in the 16th over. Dwayne Pretorius was dismissed for eight runs in four balls. In the 17th over, Rahul Chahar got MS Dhoni caught by wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma. Dhoni scored 23 runs in 28 balls.

In the 15th over, Liam Livingstone took two wickets in two consecutive balls while bowling brilliantly. He has a chance for a hat-trick. On the fifth ball of this over, Livingstone got Shivam Dubey caught by Arshdeep Singh. Dubey could score 57 runs in 30 balls. This included six fours and three sixes. Despite sudden wicket fall, Shivam and Dhoni shared 62 runs in 46 balls for the sixth wicket. On the next ball, Livingstone caught the catch of Dwayne Bravo on his own ball.
