Just two days before the IPL 2022, Mahendra Singh Dhoni handed over the captaincy to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Shardul Thakur
All-rounder Shardul Thakur had joined Chennai Super Kings in the year 2018. He came to the CSK franchise from Mumbai Indians at that time. For three years, Shardul was an integral part of the CSK team and surely a match winner.
Whenever CSK needed a wicket, Shardul came upfront and delivered what the captain demanded. This medium-pacer fast bowler took a total of 21 wickets in 16 matches for Chennai Super Kings in the last year i.e. 2021. 30-year-old Shardul has the ability to swing the ball. He also has the ability to bat strikingly coming down the order.
Faf du Plessis
The 14th season of IPL was great for former South African captain Faf du Plessis. 37-year-old Du Plessis scored a total of 633 runs in 16 innings while playing for CSK in IPL 2021. He was the second highest run-scorer that season. With Rituraj Gaikwad, Du Plessis had many big partnerships in the top order that subsequently assisted the team to lift the trophy.
Sam Curran
England’s all-rounder Sam Curran played as a match winner for CSK in last two seasons. When CSK won the title last year, Sam Curran played some astonishing innings as well as he was ace in the field. Sam Curran has scored a total of 242 runs with 22 wickets in 23 matches for CSK.
Apart from bowling with the new ball, 23-year-old Curran also gave options in batting down the order. This season Sam Curran distanced himself from the IPL 2022 mega auction. In the current IPL, Chennai Super Kings has failed to find Curran’s replacement.
