Cheteshwar Pujara is in sublimest form in the LV County Championship. He has been one of the stand out perfomer in English conditions. In international cricket, Cheteshwar Pujara has scored 750 runs at the average of 28.84. However, in this county season, he is averaging around 143 which is just phenomenal. Earlier in international cricket, he was dropped out because of his bad form.

Now, he has scored fourth century with his bat in England’s County Championship. On the third day of the match, Pujara remained unbeaten on 125 in the second innings and his team Sussex has taken a 270-run lead against Middlesex. He completed this century in 133 balls. At the end of the day’s play, he was unbeaten on 125 off 149 balls. During this he also hit 16 fours and two sixes. One of six was a beautiful uppercut over the point.

He has also scored two double centuries this season. When this Saurashtra batsman faced Pakistan’s pace bowler Shaheen Afridi, he welcomed this young bowler by converting the bouncer into a six through an upper cut. Shaheen Afridi is playing in the county for Middlesex.

After battling poor form in Test cricket, Pujara lost the Indian team in the Test series against Sri Lanka. After this he made up his mind to play for Sussex. In this match, a good match was seen between Shaheen Shah Afridi and Pujara. Pujara hit him with a fine punch towards covers, while his teammate Tom Alsop, on the other hand, seemed to support him well. This is Pujara’s fourth century in seven innings of four matches in the county, in which he also scored double centuries against Durham and Derbyshire.

Cheteshwar Pujara was once considered the wall of Team India, however, he lost his place in the team after Rahul Dravid became the coach. It was said speculated that it might not be possible for Pujara to return.

If 34-year-old Pujara wanted, he could have taken retirement. Putting aside criticism, Pujara has scored his fourth century while playing for Sussex in England’s County Championship. India will play England for a test match that was left out because of the pandemic last year. So, Pujara is putting up a solid performance which will surely strengthen his place in team India.
