CricketCheteshwar Pujara Promoted As Captain Of Sussex In County Championship

Indian test batting superstar has been given tej opportunity to lead Sussex in County Championship. The batter played for Sussex in previous county championship season and was prolific with the bat. He experience and temperament certainly makes him ths best candidate for captaincy.

While talking to match reporter for Sussex, Pujara talked about ascending to captaincy, “I’ve been here last season. Guys have been fantastic. You know, there’s a lot of talent out here. It’s about nurturing those talented players. Some of them eventually will play for the England team, so it’s not difficult to motivate them.

On speaking about how his captaincy will work out, Pujara said, “They (players) are quite motivated. So, that makes my job easier. And even the support staff has been fantastic. I mean, as a captain, you want your support staff to guide the players, including myself. You know, I’ve been learning from all the support staff.”

“So it’s good to learn from them, try and communicate with them. The communication has been fantastic. So yeah, and past me, it was an easy decision for me. But yes, it’s it’s it’s going to be challenging. It’s never easy to win championship games. For us the goal is to get promoted and and win the win as many championship games as possible.”

Cheteshwar Pujara has more than 7000 runs to his name in long spanning test career of 102 matches. It will be extremely great for the young players at Sussex to learn from one of the modern day great test players.
