Christian Eriksen scored with his first touch on his international comeback but the Netherlands held on for the win.

Perfect return

The Danish footballer has said he is proud that he can still compete at a high level despite suffering a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 last summer, which sidelined him for an extended period. Christian returned to Denmark on Saturday, scoring with his first touch less than two minutes after coming on as a substitute, creating numerous other chances in the process. Describing the return as perfect, the Brentford playmaker indicated he feels comfortable back with his international teammates and ready to help out at the 2022 World Cup.

What did Christian Eriksen say?

Danish footballer Christian Eriksen said he was pleased to show that he can still play. According to Eriksen, he has the feeling that he has never been away from the team. It was a little emotional to return to the national team, but he hardly missed any games in the last 10 years, so he is like part of the family. Christian Eriksen added that he felt very welcome by the Dutch fans. Christian has been here before for Ajax for many years, so of course they know him, but it was a very heart warming experience for sure.

The midfielder was happy that the ball came to him and of course it was a great finish. Starting a return to international football this way was the perfect way. Christian Eriksen is looking forward to playing at the World Cup in Qatar, but there are many games between them and he is focused on them.

Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand said it was a pleasure to see the popular playmaker back on the serve and revealed what he said to the midfielder before sending him into the fray. “I said, ‘Enjoy yourself and welcome back,'” said the head coach of Denmark.
