Graham Potter has disclosed that Chelsea’s forward, Christian Pulisic, is making progress towards a return to the team, as he is currently taking part in warm-up activities.

What did Potter say about Christian Pulisic?

The United States international, Christian Pulisic, is not yet fit to take part in full training, but has returned to training with his club colleagues and will be “more integrated next week.” Pulisic has been out of action since he was forced out of a Premier League game against Manchester City after just 22 minutes on January 5. The 24-year-old is eager to return to the team, but the club will not take any risks with his fitness.

According to Chelsea’s head coach, Graham Potter, Pulisic and N’Golo Kante are not available for the upcoming match against Tottenham on Sunday, but they are joining the warm-ups and will be more involved in training next week. Another Chelsea player, Cesar Azpilicueta, will also miss the match due to a serious head injury sustained during a meeting with Southampton. However, forgotten frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains in contention for game time, with Potter stating that he is competing for a place in the squad and is available for selection.

Chelsea Move

In 2019, Pulisic made a big-money move to Chelsea, becoming the most expensive American player in history. He had big shoes to fill, with the club’s legendary winger Eden Hazard having left for Real Madrid that summer. Pulisic took some time to settle in at Stamford Bridge, but he began to show his quality in the second half of his first season. He scored a vital goal in Chelsea’s FA Cup final win over Arsenal, and finished the season with 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

Return from Injury

Pulisic’s 2020-21 season was disrupted by injury, and he struggled to recapture his best form when he did return to action. However, he showed glimpses of his quality in some key matches, including the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. He came off the bench in the second leg of the tie and scored a vital goal to help Chelsea reach the final.

Christian Pulisic has already achieved a great deal in his career, and he is still just 24 years old.
