Christiano Ronaldo to get sued by the South Korean fans
South Korean Fans Seek Lawsuit After Cristiano Ronaldo’s No Show in K-League vs Juventus Friendly Match
Enraged South Korean Christiano Ronaldo fans now seek lawsuit after the Italian club’s superstar no show in the K League All-Star vs Juventus pre-season friendly match. The 34-year-old forward, the captain of the Portugal national team, was sitting on the subs’ bench the entire 90 minutes.
The fans now seek compensation for the tickets and also for “mental anguish”. So much furious that they even started chanting the name of the Portuguese’s rival Lionel Messi. Fans are also going berserk on the social media for the betrayal of the 60k visitors for the match.
Some fans even went as far as reaching out to a law firm Myungan to file a lawsuit. Things might have gone pretty bad. They seek 59$ per ticket, 0.85$ ticket commission fee and 845$ each for “mental anguish” compensation.
“Normally in such cases the plaintiffs will be refunded the price of the tickets. But I put this under a special case since the company, through false advertising, took advantage of the football star’s fans,” a lawyer from the firm told Reuters.
“As for the mental anguish part, I’d like to say some of them are raucous fans, the real avid fans. So for them it is very painful because they love Ronaldo and want to protect him, but they can’t, given the situation,” he added.
“For now we have two plaintiffs who sued the company. But I have been getting a lot of calls today and I assume there will be some 60,000 more.”
Christiano Ronaldo was supposed to play 45 minutes in the friendly match. Organisers say the contract was to play 45 minutes when the match against K League was announced. But he chooses to sit on the bench and refused to get on the pitch.
CEO of the Korean Agency which arranged the match, Robin Chang, also confirmed that the Juventus forward was to appear for 45 minutes.
Chang broke down in tears as she found out, Ronaldo would not be making an appearance. She argued with the, VC of Juventus but nothing he could do as the 34-year old refused to go onto the pitch.
K League also sent a letter of protest to the Italian professional football club for violating the contract.
