Paris Saint-Germain chief Christophe Galtier defended French striker Kylian Mbappe after the striker appeared to have hit because of the manager’s tactics this season.

What did Galtier say about Kylian Mbappe?

The France national team player appeared to have taken a swipe at the tactics deployed by the head coach on social media after PSG stalled against Reims over the weekend. Kylian Mbappe is believed to have been given assurances that he would be played in attack for two with a player from behind, rather than the usual Paris Saint-Germain front three.

Speaking to reporters, the Paris Saint-Germain manager said it was a reaction in the heat of the moment, after a moment of disappointment. According to Christophe Galtier, he spoke a lot with Kylian Mbappe at the start of the season and was very attentive to his comments when he was playing for France, saying that he felt better in Les Bleus’ attacking setup.

Throughout the pre-season, they talked to Luis Campos and President Nasser Al-Khelaifi to get a fourth striker, with a different profile that would allow two strikers and have Mbappe play as much as possible in his preferred area. Mbappe is sometimes in the middle and gives the impression that he is the axis. But Kylian is a smart player who can adapt.

Mbappe is already at 11 goals and Galtier knows he will score a lot more. To tell them the whole story, he didn’t have to play against Reims, he was sick. Mbappe played while sick and tired in a match that didn’t turn out well for them. Galtier tries to calm him down by finding other options. Christophe says they are very mindful of his comments and thinking because Kylian Mbappe is a very important player for the team.

A little about the topic

Saturday’s fixture was the first time the Parisians failed to score this season. Elsewhere, the French player and his teammates Neymar and Messi have been in electrifying form, contributing over 40 goals in all competitions already.
