However, Serie A side Sassuolo have set Scamacca’s price tag at 50 million euros and his potential move to PSG has been brought to a stall for the time being.

Scamacca came through the youth academies of Lazio and Roma

Paris Saint-Germain have already signed Vitinha from Porto in exchange for 41.5 million euros. Still, new coach Christophe Galtier is confident that the club will also proceed with the signings of Renato Sanches, Milan Skriniar and Gianluca Scamacca. However, Serie A side Sassuolo have set Scamacca’s price tag at 50 million euros and his potential move to PSG has been brought to a stall for the time being. Often likened to strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Christian Vieri, Scamacca came through the youth academies of Lazio and Roma, before leaving for PSV Eindhoven. He returned to Italy in 2017, when he was signed by Sassuolo, and went out on loan to Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli and Genoa. In an interview with Red Bull, Scamacca revealed which was the coach that helped him improve at a young age before joining PSV. “At Roma, I owe a lot to Roberto Muzzi,” Scamacca noted.

Eventually, Scamacca didn’t impress at PSV

“He worked on my faults and taught me to move correctly, especially to play closer to the goal. I had the defect of dropping back often to receive the ball in midfield. I left for PSV because I had some weaknesses to improve. In the Netherlands, they play more technical and attacking football and they take more care of the fundamentals. There are also more opportunities to make your first-team debut here. In Italy everything is more tactical and to play in Serie A you have to wait for an epidemic.” Eventually, Scamacca didn’t impress at PSV, with the club’s sporting director stressing that the Italian striker didn’t have “the development we imagined”.

At Sassuolo, he was key in winning the Viareggio Cup, one of the most prestigious youth tournaments in the world, and made his Serie A debut on October 29, 2017, at age of 18 years and nine months old.

However, Scamacca struggled to settle at Sassuolo. It wasn’t until last season that he earned a starting spot at the team, celebrating his highest-ever scoring campaign with 16 Serie A goals. Scamacca had previously netted nine goals during his loan spell at Ascoli in Serie B back in 2019/20 and eight with Genoa in 2020/21. “He can be a useful player,” suggested Roberto Mancini, who handed Scamacca his Italy debut. “He has different characteristics to the rest of our attackers.” In an interview, Scamacca named the player that he considers are a role model. “I like the comparisons with Ibra, but I also like to do different things such as leaving the box, giving assists,” he said. “My role models also include midfielders like Paul Pogba. He’s tall, slender and very skilful with his feet.”
