Dutch winger Cody Gakpo has admitted he is interested in joining the Red Devils during the summer transfer window and has been in talks with other PL teams.

What did Cody Gakpo say?

Cody Gakpo has been linked with Old Trafford as they looked to step up their attack before the end of the transfer window. The young Dutch international said towards the end of the month that Manchester United were a serious option for him.

However, in the end, the Dutch national team player stayed with PSV and explained why the transfer did not take place. The Dutch footballer said that at the beginning of the window, Man Utd registered their interest, but not very much, so he waited a bit, and then the end approached and the signals became more positive.

According to Cody Gakpo, he began to think that it might eventually fall. Interest faded last week, so Cody Gakpo’s entire window worked towards it, and then it faded. “Then I was watching last week, thinking ‘what’s the right thing to do?'” says Cody.

Cody Gakpo added that he has spoken to other clubs, Premier League clubs that could be a good move, but there are more factors to consider like the World Cup.

A little about the topic

The Dutch international’s impressive performances for club and country could see more offers coming in for him during the January transfer window. The Dutch winger has scored six goals in four Eredivisie appearances this season on the back of a perfect start to PSV’s campaign.

Man Utd chose not to sign the PSV star and instead looked elsewhere in the Netherlands to improve their options on the wing as Brazilian player Antony was bought from Ajax in a deal worth up to £85m.

What’s next for the Red Devils?

Man Utd will be looking to prove they are strong enough to compete this year after their summer window when they host the Gunners at Old Trafford on Sunday.
