South African Fast Bowler Gerald Coetzee Ruled Out of Test Series Against West Indies Due to Injury
South African cricket fans were left disappointed as fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies next month. The 23-year-old suffered a low-grade side strain on his left side while playing for the Texas Super Kings in the Major League Cricket tournament earlier this month.
After undergoing assessments, the Proteas medical team declared Coetzee unfit for the tour, leading to the selection of uncapped fast bowler Migael Pretorius as his replacement. Pretorius, 29, brings a wealth of experience to the team, having been called up to the test side in 2020 against Sri Lanka.
Pretorius comes into the series in good form, having picked up an impressive 23 wickets in eight games in the ongoing County Championship Division in England. The first test is scheduled to take place at the Port of Spain in Trinidad on August 07, followed by the second test in Guyana on August 15.
