Callum Hudson-Odoi is well on the road to recovery after Chelsea posted a video clip of the winger completing a stationary bike workout at home.

The 19-year-old Odoi became the first Premier League player to test positive for COVID-19. The situation forced the entire squad and coaching staff in self-isolation and closing most of the club’s Cobham training ground.

However, Odoi’s symptoms were mild. The player has already provided an update through his social media channels. The England international is now working on his fitness.

“Hi guys, as you may be aware, I’ve had the virus for the last couple of days which I’ve recovered from. I’m following the health guidelines and self-isolating myself from everybody for the week.”

“I hope to see everybody soon and hopefully be back on the pitch very soon. Take care.”

Hudson-Odoi has been out of action because of a hamstring injury. His last appearance was in the 2-2 draw away to Leicester City. He aggravated the issue in his first training session back two weeks ago.

That is healing, though the teenager is currently working on his fitness from home. Similarly, all Chelsea’s players have been given individual fitness programs to work on remotely.

Initially, Cobham was expected to re-open this weekend following a deep clean. But the latest government advice and a key meeting between Premier League clubs on Thursday may further delay their return.

Consequently, no other Chelsea player or staff member has tested positive for the virus. This means the self-isolation protocols are all precautionary.

What next for Chelsea?

A Chelsea statement last Friday read, “It is expected that those who did not have close contact with Callum will return to work in the coming days.”

“In the meantime, the men’s team building, one of several separate buildings at our training ground will remain closed. The rest of our training facility, Stamford Bridge and our other facilities are operating as normal.”
