Ronaldo ‘worried’ over Man Utd transfer plan and ‘fears’ even ‘greater’ gap to rivals

Ronaldo is growing more worried that United’s competitors are once again pulling away. The Red Devils have been widely connected with midfielders Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen, but no signings have been made.

Erik ten Hag is yet to make his first transfer compared to rivals Manchester City and Liverpool who have heavily invested on Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, respectively.

The 37-year-old is ‘worried,’ over United’s lack of movement thus far. Consequently, the Portuguese icon was “determined” to finish his contract year at Old Trafford. But due to United’s inaction, he now has “doubts”.

De Jong, a Holland international, is now valued at £72 million by Barcelona, and United are currently about £12 million shy of that sum. Meanwhile, negotiations regarding a transfer for Eriksen have stalled recently.

Richard Arnold, the CEO of United, was overheard on video speaking to supporters about the club’s finances over the weekend and stated that there is enough money to bolster the first-team roster this summer. With the additions of midfielders Fabio Vieira and Yves Bissouma, respectively, Arsenal and Tottenham have also strengthened in recent weeks.

Ronaldo returned to United last summer on a two-year contract, and with 24 goals across all competitions, he was the club’s leading scorer.

However, he contributed to a forgettable campaign for United, which saw them finish sixth in the Premier League and fail to go further in any cup tournaments.

Anthony Martial will likely be a member of the first-team squad for the upcoming season, with Ten Hag “accepting he may have to find a place for the Frenchman” in his plans due to a lack of transfer interest.
