Trinidadian footballer Dwight Yorke has suggested that Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo will fight to see Fernandes captain the Red Devils against the Reds.

What did Yorke say about Cristiano Ronaldo?

Dutch manager Erik ten Hag got his first PL win on Monday night as he watched his side overcome Liverpool thanks to goals from Rashford and Sancho. Cristiano and Harry Maguire started on the bench at Old Trafford and, while the former was turned on in the second half, Dwight stated that it would be hard for him to watch one of his international teammates captain on the side.

The former Red Devils striker said he spent 30 minutes with Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of last season and can tell them he wasn’t happy like many Man Utd players were. According to Dwight Yorke, Cristiano Ronaldo did not like to see the club where he was – it was a big disappointment for him.

Dwight would make him captain for the upcoming season. Now they have a situation where Fernandes captures Cristiano, the player that Cristiano captains for his national team. Yorke thinks that Cristiano Ronaldo struggled with this a little – he probably does not understand this decision.

A little about Cristiano Ronaldo

Bruno has been the club’s vice-captain for over a year when Solskjaer entrusted him with the role in February 2021, before the return of Cristiano’s. Erik is clearly pleased with his midfield general as Harry’s second-in-command and will keep the captain’s armband while the England defender is out of the team.

Prior to defeating the Reds on Monday night, Man Utd had won just two of his 12 PL games that Cristiano had not started since his return. The scoring pace was greatly increased with him in the opening XI as Manchester United picked up all three points in 14 of the 28 games he started.

Cristiano Ronaldo looks like he’ll still be a Red Devils player when the transfer window closes next week, barring something drastic. That means he will have to force his way back into the starting XI, a task that will be made even tougher by the fitness return of Anthony Martial, who made his first appearance of the season against the Reds.
