Nuno Espirito left his managerial position at Wolves at the end of the 2020/21 campaign and has since been out of work for three weeks. After Hodgson’s exit this summer, the Eagles are in search of a new coach and according to reports, the side has informed the 47-year-old Nuno they want him as their coach.

Also, Palace has held advanced talks with Santo and the side is now hopeful of getting a definitive response from the Portuguese boss within the next two days amid concerns Everton could launch a last-minute attempt to hijack their move.

As understood, Santo has been hugely impressed with the project Palace has in place during his discussions with the club officials. But, suppose Everton formalizes their interest in the coach, that could throw a spanner in the works.

While the former Wolves boss is very much in pole position to become the new Palace coach, the possibility of the Toffees, who lost Carlo Ancelotti to Real Madrid last week, launching a late bid is a scenario that the side is wary of.

Managing the Merseyside club could be an attractive position for Nuno though as it stands, he is a favorite to become the new Eagles manager ahead of next season.

However, the South London club wants their vacant position filled as a matter of urgency. Therefore, they are prepared to move on to alternative targets if there’s a prolonged delay.

In this case, Sean Dyche and Steve Cooper are among the other manager’s Palace have an interest in. One out of the two could end up in Crystal Palace if Nuno Espirito turns down interests from the club.

On the other hand, the vacancy left by Nuno in Wolverhampton Wanderers is expected to be replaced by Bruno Lage.
