CSK beats DC by 27 runs, wins 7th match of the season
In the 55th match of the IPL where the Hosts CSK faced off against The Visitors DC in an one sided match. While batting first, after winning the toss, the 2nd placed in the league CSK scored 167 runs with the loss of 8 wickets against DC. The skipper of the side MS Dhoni played a quick cameo of 20 off 9 balls for CSK in this match.
In response to this, the David Warner-led DC could only score 140 runs in 20 overs and CSK registered a resounding victory by 27 runs over the Northern. This was CSK’s 7th win of the season in the league.
Chasing the target of 168 runs, the bottom placed DC got off to a bad start. CSK’s fast bowler Deepak Chahar, who came for the first over from CSK, got skipper on two balls duck who got out by Ajinkya Rahane.
Chahar had a back of length ball outside the off stump, the veteran left handed batter went to hit it in the cover area and Rahane got a simple catch. Chahar draws second blood for DC in the third over. Salt, who scored 17 runs in 11 balls, was caught by Ambati Rayudu.
Nice bowling from Pathirana
Delhi’s third wicket fell on the first ball of the fourth over. Mitchell Marsh was run out on 5. After this, there was a 59-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Manish Pandey and Riley Russuow. Mathisha Pathirana broke this partnership on the last ball of the 13th over. He got Manish Pandey out lbw. Pandey scored 27 runs off 29 balls. In the 15th over, Jadeja got Russuow caught out by Pathirana. Russuow played a slow inning of 35 runs off 37 balls.
Axar scored 21 runs
In the 18th over, Pathirana sent informer Axar Patel to the pavilion, playing an inning of 21 runs in 12 balls. Rahane took the catch of Axar Patel. Ripple Patel was run out on the 5th ball of the 19th over, scoring 9 runs in 16 balls. In the last over, Pathirana clean bowled Lalit Yadav who scored 12 runs in 5 balls. Aman Khan remained unbeaten after scoring 2 runs. Pathirana took 3 wickets from Chennai side. While Deepak Chahar took 2 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket.
Chennai’s innings condition
Batting first, CSK got the first blow on the first ball of the 5th over. Axar Patel cleans up Conway who scored 10 runs in 13 balls. CSK got a second blow on the first ball of the 7th over. Patel got Ruturaj out caught by Aman. Ruturaj played an inning of 24 runs in 18 balls. CSK’s third wicket fell in the 10th over.
Kuldeep Yadav sent Moeen Ali’s pavilion. Moeen scored 7 runs off 12 balls. Ajinkya Rahane got out and bowled on the first ball of the 12th over, scoring 21 runs in 20 balls. Lalit Yadav made him his victim.
Dhoni’s stormy batting
After this, Shivam Dube along with Ambati Rayudu tried to handle the innings. There was a 36-run partnership between the two for the 5th wicket. Shivam Dube gave away his wicket second ball of the 13th over, scoring 25 runs in 12 balls.
Chennai’s sixth wicket fell on the second ball of the 17th over. Rayudu scored 23 runs in 17 balls. Jadeja gave away his wicket in the last over, scoring 21 off 16 balls. Dhoni also got out on the 5th ball of the 20th over. The 41-year-old start batter scored 20 runs in 9 balls.
