4-time champion Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by 91 runs in the 55th match of the current season of IPL. In this match played at DY Patil Sports Stadium in Mumbai, Chennai scored 208 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets, in response, Delhi Capitals was bundled out to 117 runs in 17.4 overs. Devon Conway was the man of the match, who played a brilliant innings of 87 runs in 49 balls.
Mitchell Marsh scored the highest 25 runs for Delhi. Apart from them, only Shardul Thakur (24), captain Rishabh Pant (21) and David Warner (19) could touch the double figures. Moeen Ali took 3 wickets for Chennai while Mukesh Chaudhary, Simarjit Singh and Dwayne Bravo got 2 wickets each. Mahesh Thekshana also took 1 wicket.
Earlier, Chennai opener Devon Conway played a wonderful innings of 87 runs. He hit 7 fours and 5 sixes in 49 balls. Rituraj Gaikwad contributed 41 runs and shared an opening partnership of 110 runs with Conway. Shivam Dubey scored 32 runs in 19 balls hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 21 runs in 8 balls with the help of 1 four and 2 sixes and returned unbeaten. For Delhi, pacer Enrique Norkhia took 3 wickets while Khaleel Ahmed got 2 wickets. Mitchell Marsh also took 1 wicket.
Devon Conway and Rituraj Gaikwad gave Chennai a good start and both took the team’s score to 100 runs in 10 overs. Gaikwad missed a half-century and became the victim of Enrique Norkhia after scoring 41 runs. Gaikwad hit 4 fours and 1 six in his innings of 33 balls.
Chennai has played 11 matches so far out of which they have won 4. At the same time, Delhi has won 5 out of 11. Chennai is 8th with 8 points while Delhi is at number 5th in the table with 10 points.
