Chennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Moeen Ali has been injured during a practice session ahead of the match against Punjab Kings. Cricinfo has learned that he has an ankle injury and has undergone a scan.
Moeen had suffered the injury on Saturday itself. The franchise is awaiting the result of the scan, only after which the severity of the injury can be said. However, it is clear that he will not be able to play in the next few matches.
However, this week Chennai has to play only two matches. After the match against Punjab on Monday, he is to take the field against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 1, almost six days later.
Earlier on April 17, he had landed in the match against Gujarat Titans. On 21 April, Mitchell Santner was fed in his place in the match against Mumbai Indians.
