Bangladesh Cricket Team’s Training for Pakistan Tests Affected by Political Crisis

Preparations for Bangladesh’s upcoming two-match series against Pakistan have been disrupted due to the ongoing political crisis in the country. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials have stated that the scheduled training sessions have been affected as the government has imposed a nationwide curfew for an indefinite period.

Uncertainty Looms Over Practice Sessions

The BCB officials told Cricbuzz that they are unsure when they can announce the date of the next practice session due to the current situation. The Bangladesh team is set to fly to Pakistan on August 17 for the ICC Test Championship, with the first Test scheduled to take place from August 21-25 in Rawalpindi and the second Test in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.

“We are not sure when we can hold the practice because there is a curfew for an indefinite period. Our administration is looking into the matter, and we hope to have a better understanding of the situation soon,” said a BCB official.

Impact on Bangladesh A Team’s Tour

While the Bangladesh A team’s tour of Pakistan is still on schedule, there are concerns about the current political situation affecting the tour. Former Test skippers Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque are part of the Bangladesh A team for the first four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens, with the team scheduled to depart on August 6 for a series of matches from August 10-27 in Islamabad.

“The A team’s tour is on till now, but with the current political situation, nothing can be guaranteed. However, we remain hopeful that the team will be able to fly on the scheduled date,” the official added.

Despite the challenges posed by the political crisis, the cricket boards of both Bangladesh and Pakistan are working to ensure the smooth conduct of the series and the tours, keeping the safety and well-being of the players as a top priority.
