The Spanish midfielder, Dani Ceballos has reacted to Piers Morgan’s public outburst of displeasure with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta by urging patience throughout the Spaniard’s tenure at the club.

After Unai Emery’s dismissal in November of 2019, the Real Madrid midfielder spent two seasons on loan in North London, the most of which he spent as Ceballos’ boss. Arsenal won the FA Cup during Ceballos’ brief tenure, although they also had some of their poorest league form since World War II at that time.

Ceballos was a key figure in Arsenal’s march to FA Cup triumph in 2020, with the former Real Betis star scoring a last-gasp quarter-final winner to keep the team in the competition. Ceballos, on the other hand, was part of a Gunners squad that had suffered home defeats to Wolves, Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Burnley by the turn of the year.

He would finally quit Arsenal and return to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the 2020/21 season, but he clearly still has a soft spot for Arteta. That is why, in the wake of Morgan’s Twitter attack, he has come to his former manager’s defense.

Arteta’s decision to authorize the transfer of marquee forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona midway through the season, while Arsenal is still competing for a top-four finish, has been criticized by the former Good Morning Britain host.

Morgan said in the aftermath of the team’s 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace: “This is the point at which Arsenal supporters must admit that Arteta made a season-ending blunder by selling Aubameyang and depending on Lacazette to lead the line. It is, as I predicted, coming back to haunt us.”

Ceballos responded almost immediately, writing: “Allow him to work, friend; he is quite capable. He will also lead Arsenal to their rightful place in the Premier League. Patience.”

Arsenal has made significant progress this season, and their Champions League fate is still in their control with nine games remaining.

However, Arsenal’s recent performance at Selhurst Park has definitely shattered some of the confidence surrounding their chances of finishing fourth. On Monday night, Arteta admitted, “We weren’t at the races today, especially in the first half.”

“We were late to every ball, soft in duels, and didn’t earn the right to play, and when we did, we were sloppy on the ball. We lacked domination and phases of play that allowed us to gain control of the game, and we also conceded two weak goals, so the total result is unacceptable.”
