Cain has been 25 days in a coma

Daniel Cain, a former Arsenal academy player and electronics engineer, suffered a devastating injury in June 2020. After a night out with friends, he consumed a spiked drink that caused him to go into cardiac arrest. Although his friends performed CPR and paramedics were able to revive him, Cain’s brain and spinal cord had been deprived of oxygen for too long, resulting in tetraplegia. After 25 days in a coma, Cain awoke with significantly impaired short-term memory but began to recover cognitively. Two and a half years later, he requires round-the-clock care and is undergoing rehabilitation with Neurokinex to try to regain his ability to walk. However, the treatment is expensive, costing the family over 2,200 euros per month.

The campaign seeks to raise funds to support Cain’s recovery

To help with the cost of Cain’s rehabilitation, his family has started a GoFundMe page. The campaign seeks to raise funds to support Cain’s recovery and provide him with the care he needs to lead a fulfilling life. Despite the challenges Cain faces, his family remains optimistic. While he still requires constant care, his long-term memory remains intact, and he continues to improve. With the help of his loved ones and dedicated medical professionals, Cain is working to rebuild his life and regain his independence. The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of spiked drinks and the importance of remaining vigilant while out with friends. It also highlights the significant financial burden that can result from a catastrophic injury and the importance of community support and resources to aid in recovery.

As the family works to raise funds for Cain’s care, they hope to bring attention to the struggles faced by individuals with tetraplegia and the need for increased resources and support for those living with this condition.
