‘He’s going to be sensational!’: Former England defender Danny Mills believes Erling Haaland can score 40 goals or more for Manchester City if the new £51 million striker stays fit this season.

The striker has big hopes after signing for £51 million from Borussia Dortmund earlier in the transfer window, and former City defender Mills believes the Norwegian will excel at the Etihad this season.

‘Haaland is going to be amazing,’ he said. If he plays every game, he has the potential to score 40 goals or more in all competitions.’

‘It wouldn’t surprise me if he scored close to 30 Premier League goals,’ says the coach.

Haaland has turned into one of the continent’s most prolific goal scorers, scoring 86 goals in 89 games for Dortmund.

The Leeds-born striker is widely regarded as one of Europe’s best and will be hoping for a rousing success in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old has made an immediate impact at City, scoring on his debut in a 1-0 pre-season win over Bayern Munich last week.

There are some concerns about Haaland’s injury history, since he missed 16 games for Dortmund in all competitions last season. However, the striker’s goal total was unaffected, with the talisman scoring 29 goals in 30 games last season.
The Citizens have won four of the last five Premier League titles, narrowly defeating Liverpool on the last day last season.

Guardiola, on the other hand, will be hopeful that the acquisition of Haaland would help his team win their first Champions League title. Last season, City were eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual winners Real Madrid.

The Norwegian has an impressive record in UEFA’s top cup tournament, having scored 23 goals in 19 Champions League appearances. The talisman also became the competition’s fastest and youngest player to score 20 goals.
