Vinicius has improved a lot
David Bettoni was one of Zinedine Zidane’s most trusted staff members during their most recent spell together at Real Madrid. He has highlighted how Vinicius Junior has improved from mental and emotional perspectives. Vinicius has dovetailed supremely well with Karim Benzema this term, scoring goals himself and making chances, as he has benefited hugely from the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti and is showing to be worth every bit of the 40 million euros that Real Madrid were forced to pay for the Flamengo prodigy. “He is young, he needed time, to play… it is his fourth season, and he is a player that has worked hard and is enjoying himself,” Bettoni explained. “He has improved a lot.”
“In a confident team that wins, it is easy, now you see a whole season, but the performance of Vini and the team is 10/10 for now. I think this year, he has the mental and emotional balance that allows him to score more goals.”
Bettoni always liked Eder Militao
Eder Militao is another player who has stepped up dramatically since Zidane departed. However, this is perhaps linked more to the exit of Sergio Ramos, as it means he is getting more playing time. “Militao is a slow process too, for a foreign player, and he had Ramos and Raphael Varane ahead of him, which isn’t easy,” he added. “Putting on a Real Madrid shirt is a big responsibility, but he is a player that I always liked. He has a tremendous amount of quality and, like Varane, is going to stay at Real Madrid for ten years. He is fast, forceful and has more confidence in himself without Sergio and Rapha.”
Mbappe has always said he would like to play for Madrid
Kylian Mbappe seems set to eventually sign for Real Madrid at the end of the season, but Bettoni believes that PSG’s ability to fight for the Champions League may change his mind. He has always said he would like to play for Real Madrid and Real Madrid want to sign him. There are six months left on his contract, so I’ll say it looks good,” Bettoni continued. “However, I don’t know what will happen because he’s at a great club that is also fighting to win the Champions League, but for Real Madrid, he would be a great signing.”
“An attacking trio with Benzema, Vinicius and Mbappe is something from a dream. Mbappe has been at the top for two or three years now; he has won the World Cup; the great players have to play for Real Madrid, that’s it.”
