With busy scheduling going around, players have to decide which side they want to play for, franchise side or national side. Miller has decided to play for Proteas and rather miss one or two games for Gujarat Titans.
South Africa will have a tough job at hand, with must win back to back games against the Netherlands. Giving their history in the past years, both sides will provide thrilling encounters.
Before that South Africa has to fight off the last battle against West Indies who have already proved themselves to be a reinvigorated side after Shai Hope took captaincy.
No wonder why some big names have been added to team, David Miller being one of them. During the press conference, he was asked how his team is going around with a bunch of new players coming in.
“It’s great to see the the young guys coming in or not so young but new guys get a taste of international cricket. I think it’s really healthy at the moment with the standard that we’ve got and I think it’s just a matter of time before you know all these new guys come in and and start performing at their best,” Miller said during the press conference.
Miller also spoke about making a choice about representing Proteas and not going the decision to play all matches for Gujarat Titans. “I mean it’s always a a big thing playing in Ahmedabad. I’m about to miss the opening game against Chennai,” Miller said.
David Miller will be representing Proteas against the Netherlands who now seems a bigger challenge because of the situation South African team is in. They have win two in two to directly qualify for the World Cup 2023.
“I think it is a bit disappointing to be missing that but like I mentioned you know to put on the green and gold for me has always been a huge privilege and honour and we’ve got some work to to to do in those two games against Netherlands.”
South Africa will go with strongest team in upcoming ODI matches. It is likely that Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada and can miss first the first match of their respective teams.
Miller doesn’t appear to be thinking much about what’s in box for IPL league. Currently, focused on building a strong Proteas squad, he doesn’t want to reflect too much about not having the chance to play in IPL because of his commitments to the national team.
“I think having our strong team, the best squad that we can pick is definitely the way forward and yeah, gonna be missing one game, so whether someone’s disappointed or not, I suppose the the process has been taking place.”
