Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals by 15 runs to register their fifth win of the season. Rajasthan successfully defended 222 runs in the match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Delhi Capitals fought hard but only managed to score 207 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Rajasthan Royals set a huge target of 223 runs for Delhi Capitals to win. After losing the toss at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Rajasthan Royals scored 222 runs in 20 overs for the loss of two wickets. This has become the biggest score of this season. Jos Buttler scored his best score of 116 runs for Rajasthan, while Devdutt Padikkal scored 54 runs. Skipper Sanju Samson remained unbeaten on 46 off 19 balls. Khaleel Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket each for Delhi Capitals.
Delhi needed 36 runs in the last over to win. Rovman Powell was at the crease, while Samson gave the ball to Obed McCoy. Powell then hit three consecutive sixes in the first three balls. However, McCoy’s third ball went to Powell’s waist height. On this, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant sitting in the dugout and the rest of the players demanded a no ball and sought the help of the third umpire but the field umpire did not do so. After this, Pant expressed his displeasure and signaled to Powell and Kuldeep to come out of the field. Due to this whole incident, the match was stalled for a while. Soon after Pant was persuaded by the umpire and the Rajasthan players, the match resumed. However, Powell was able to score two runs in the next three balls and was out on the last ball.
