West Ham United defensive midfielder Declan Rice has admitted that the World Cup has given him new career aspirations, breathing fresh life into rumors that the Englishman could join the Blues in the summer.

What did Declan Rice say?

The England international has revealed his desire to one day challenge for the Premier League title and play Champions League football. Declan Rice admitted that seeing his England colleagues go for big things in the game left him hungry for more as the player admitted they only get one career.

When asked if playing in Qatar gave him new ambitions in the league and in Europe, the English midfielder told a press conference that yes, 100 per cent. According to Declan Rice, he has been saying this for the last two or three years. He plays consistently well for his club and feels like he really wants to keep pushing.

Rice sees his friends there who play in the Champions League and for big trophies… they only get one career and at the end of their career they want to look back at what they’ve won and the biggest games in. Declan Rice says he’s really ambitious.

A little about the topic

At 23, the Englishman has already made 215 appearances for West Ham United, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists in that time. However, his association with the Blues means rumors of a potential return are never far off, as the midfielder has worked his way through West London’s youth ranks. Declan also remains close friends with Chelsea midfielder and England teammate Mason Mount.

The England national team defensive midfielder has made more progressive carryers than any other midfielder in the PL this season.

Declan Rice will line up for England on Sunday against Senegal in their latest 16th seat with a place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
