Deepak Chahar Ruled Out Of IPL, KKR Suffers A Loss Too
Chennai Super Kings has suffered a major setback in IPL 2022. Four-time champion team’s star fast bowler Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the entire season due to injury. Kolkata Knight Riders have also suffered a big loss. Team’s young fast bowler Rasik Salam will not be able to play further matches in the season due to injury.
Deepak Chahar was released by the franchise before the mega auction but was later bought in the auction for a whopping sum of 14 crores. Unfortunately, he didn’t play a single match for CSK and it has costed a lot to the team.
For KKR fans, the bad news is that the young pacer Rasik Salam has been ruled out. In his place, KKR has roped in Harshit Rana as a replacement. Harshit has been included in his squad by KKR for his base price of Rs 20 lakh. The 22-year-old fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, Rasik played in two matches this season and could not take a single wicket. However, he impressed everyone with his bowling and line length.
According to media reports, Deepak Chahar, who was training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, sustained another injury. In the February this year, during the series against West Indies, he suffered a muscle strain. Chahar was training at the NCA to recover from the injury and was expected to be fit by the end of April. But he got injured again during the rehabilitation process. Because of this, he has now been out of the IPL and may also be out of the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Deepak Chahar specializes in taking wickets in the powerplay and keeping his batting in mind, the Chennai team had attached him with them at a cost of 14 crores, but he could not play any match for his team this season. This also affected the performance of the team. After losing the first four matches, Chennai’s team got victory in the fifth match. In this match, Chennai’s batsmen scored the highest score of the season, and later won by 23 runs with the help of bowlers.
After Chahar’s exit from the IPL, Chennai is looking difficult to reach the playoffs, as the team’s bowling is very weak and it will be difficult to make it to the playoffs on the strength of the batsmen alone. Chahar’s record in the powerplay for Chennai is excellent. He has taken 42 wickets in 58 innings in the powerplay and scored runs at an economy rate of 7.61. At the same time, Mukesh Chaudhary, who was included in the team in his place, has not been able to do anything special.
