Delhi and Kolkata clashed in the 19th league match of the IPL cricket series which started at 3:30. Kolkata Knight Riders captain Sreyas Iyer chose to bowl after winning the toss. However, soon the decision turned out to be bad one when Delhi Capitals set off to a best start of the season.

Prithvi Shaw and David Warner opened the innings and scored half century each. Warner, who has been widely criticised for continuing to be a slow starter, played a wonderful knock in this game. Prithvi Shaw went after Umesh Yadav in early overs. Delhi Capitals scored 68 runs in the first 6 overs.

David Warner accompanied Prithvi Shaw in a destructive start. After Prithvi’s wicket, Warner played the anchor role until 17th over before he was dismissed by Umesh Yadav.

Prithvi Shah hit another fast forward 29 balls 50 with seven fours and two sixes. The other opener scored his first 50 of the tournament in style. David Warner scored 61 and after his wicket, Delhi Capitals suddenly started to stumble out. The next pair, Akshar Patel and Shardul Thakur, played casually and blazed in the last 2 overs. The pair only dealt in six and fours in that period and 39 runs.

At the end of 20 overs, Delhi scored 215 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. The Kolkata Knight Riders are currently on course to reach the Himalayan target of 216 for victory. Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer banged in as openers but failed to provide a steady start. The pressure of mounting score didn’t allow any player to play their natural game.

Shreyas Iyer, who came next, teamed up with Nitish Rana. Both annihilated the bowling of the Delhi Capitals for a 5 overs. They kept scoring at run rate of above 9.

However, when the duo tried to lift the run rate, Nitish Rana lost his wicket. He was followed by Sreyas Iyer with 54 as Kolkata Knight Riders started to disband while chasing.

Everyone hoped that Russell will play majestic inning but he didn’t find a companion on the other end. Russell scored 21 and Sam Billings scored 15 rins. Kolkata Knight Riders were bowled out for 171 in 19.4. For Delhi Capitals, Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets and Khaleel Ahmed bagged 3 wickets.
