The 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season was played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), in which the team of Punjab Kings won the match by 11 runs and registered their fourth win in this season.
Batting first, PBKS team scored 187 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs in which Shikhar Dhawan played an important innings of 88 not out.
Shikhar Dhawan took over from one end and met Rajapaksa from the other
Chennai Super Kings team captain Ravindra Jadeja after winning the toss decided to bowl first. After which captain Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan landed to open the innings for Punjab Kings.
Together they put on 37 runs for the first wicket, after which Mayank returned to the pavilion after playing an innings of 18 runs.
At the same time, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who came out to bat, worked with Dhawan to take the team towards a big score, sharing a partnership of more than 100 runs for the second wicket.
Bhanuka played an innings of 42 runs in 32 balls in this match, while Shikhar Dhawan remained unbeaten till the end and played an important innings of 88 runs in 59 balls with the help of 9 fours and 2 sixes, on the basis of which Punjab Kings team in 20 overs.
They were able to score 187 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Dwayne Bravo took 2 wickets in the bowling for Chennai Super Kings.
Ambati Rayudu tried well enough but CSK got a close defeat
Chasing the score of 188, the Chennai Super Kings team did not have a good start, in which they lost their first wicket on the score of 10 to Robin Uthappa, who returned to the pavilion after scoring just 1 run. At the same time, Mitchell Santner, who came out to bat after this, could not do much and went on scoring only 9 runs, due to which CSK had 2 wickets at 30.
While on the score of 40, the team lost the fourth wicket in the form of Shivam Dube, he also went on scoring just 8 runs.
From here Ambati Rayudu started the process of scoring fast while handling the innings from one end. In which he played an innings of 78 runs in 39 balls.
But due to lack of support from the other end, CSK’s team could manage to score only 176 runs in 20 overs at the loss of 6 wickets. Kagiso Rabada and Rishi Dhawan took 2-2 wickets in the bowling for Punjab Kings.
