Cristiano Ronaldo still has a year left to run on his contract at Old Trafford, but a collective struggle could see the player head elsewhere.

A little about Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portuguese player could have left the Red Devils over the summer due to a lack of Champions League football, Berbatov claims, with Ronaldo having to make some big career calls. Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a two-year contract on an emotional return to Old Trafford in 2021. The Portuguese scored 23 goals throughout his first season in England, but those feats weren’t enough to deliver four top finishes or major silverware, meaning the all-time great could decide at 37 to fulfill his ambitions elsewhere – with a possible repetition of steps in Real Madrid to speculate.

What did Berbatov say about Ronaldo?

Ex-Man Utd player Dimitar Berbatov spoke about the player who spent the 2008-09 campaign playing alongside Man Utd, which Cristiano Ronaldo does incredibly well for his age with the way he plays and scores goals. Having so many PL goals in a season at his age is an incredible achievement. Ronaldo does what he needs to do and that is to score goals. According to Berbatov, his game is now different than it was before, but one thing is a constant, goals. Cristiano is still producing and scoring, which is so important.

The Portuguese player has one more year at Man Utd, which he thinks is good, and now it’s up to him whether he stays or leaves. Dimitar would be happy to see Ronaldo stay and of course it all depends on the new manager and what Cristiano wants. Cristiano Ronaldo is an icon in football and when someone is such that his opinion matters.

Berbatov would be happy to see the Portuguese stay and keep scoring and help the players around him. If Ronaldo decides to leave, then he obviously cannot be blamed. When he’s used to playing Champions League football every year of his career and then he doesn’t have it, it’s hard to accept.

His performances this season show how well he takes care of himself. Ronaldo will want to play as much as he can and show that the impossible is possible. Berbatov says he’s proven he can still do it at 37 in the PL, he loves proving people wrong and he’s pretty sure he’ll want to keep doing it and play for a few more years. When Ronaldo stops it will be a sad day for football because he is one of the real greats. This day is suitable for everyone.
