Diogo Dalot talks about Cristiano Ronaldo’s influence behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo is a friendly person
The Portuguese defender has revealed his compatriot’s influence in Man Utd’s dressing room this season, while praising the club’s appointment of Erik ten Hag, whom he describes as a great manager. Manchester United brought Cristiano back to the club from Juve in a £20m deal last summer, 13 years after his initial departure to Real Madrid. Cristiano Ronaldo has since been Man Utd’s main source of goals, integrating 23 across all competitions in the 2021-22 campaign, and Diogo says he’s also a great source of inspiration behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
Speaking ahead of the Red Devils’ next game in the PL, against Brentford, Diogo Dalot stated of Cristiano Ronaldo that he was confident that not only did he speak for him, but he was one of the most positive things this season to work with someone who who has his work culture, his professionalism, his mentality and being close to him now, it was very helpful for Dalot and his career.
Dalot has no more compliments on how Ronaldo works, he is also a fantastic person. The numbers are there, the stats are there, so they’re obviously very happy to have him here. Diogo added about how the rest of the lineup gets along with Cristiano, that he is a very friendly person. When he feels he trusts other people, he gives 100 percent of himself to you. According to Diogo Dalot, everyone gets along with Cristiano Ronaldo here, everyone loves to have him around. It is always a big plus to have a player and such a person in the dressing room.
Diogo Dalot talks about Ten Hag
The Portuguese defender continued to discuss the appointment of Erik ten Hag, who will replace Rangnick in the Old Trafford dugout at the end of his final season with Ajax. Dalot is pleased that the team has the clarity of a permanent boss to work with after Ralf Ragnick’s six-month temporary spell in charge and feels Erik has all the qualities to be successful in Manchester. Diogo Dalot said he doesn’t think it takes a lot to know that Ten Hag is a great manager – what he did with Ajax is something extraordinary.
Erik plays very attractive football, Diogo thinks every Man Utd fan is excited about such a manager and they are as players too. According to Dalot, it will be clear in their heads who will be the manager next season, which is good because they go on a break in their heads knowing who to expect. Then they will have time to work together in the preseason, come up with their ideas correctly and start the new season.
