CSA T20 league is on its way and in the second match, Joburg Super Kings defeated Durban Super Giants by 16 runs. This league has drama, passion and of course we will see rise of few emerging stars. For Joburg Super Giants, it was Donavon Ferreira, a lower order middle order, who batted wonderfully after coming to bat at 27 for 4.

Joburg has a number of big international stars including Janneman Malan, Reeze Hendricks and Faf Du Plessis. But when everyone fell short of the job, the whole responsibility was on shoulder of 24 years old Donavon Ferreira who scored 82 of 40 balls.

In his match winning Innings, he went on big and hit 8 fours and 5 sixes, one of massive 104 meters. Romario Shepard played his hands well scoring 40 off 20 balls. The West Indies power hitter muscled four sixes in his innings of 40 runs.

Keshav Maharaj was the pick of the bowlers for Super Giants as he conceded only 23 runs 4 overs and picked key wicket of Reeza Hendricks. After being 27 for 4 in 6 overs, Joburg Super Kings reached 190 in 20 overs. It was a phenomenal recovery for once the score of 140 was out of sight. But once Donavon Ferreira and Romario Shepard got on song, they were unforgivable, as they accumulated 28 runs of Keemo Paul’s 2 overs.

Chasing 191, Durban Super Giants had the best start to do so. They scored 60 off the powerplay and shared 98 runs partnership for the first wicket. Both Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers gave a wonderful foundation to the team to chase down the big score. Former scored 78 off 52 balls while the latter scored 39 off 29 balls.

However, no other batsman could make it big when the team needed it most. Heinrich Klaasen could only score 20 off 21 balls, and Wiaan Mulder scored 10 off 9 balls. Probably that was the match turning movement as the required run rate kept climbing up and and in last two overs, Durban Super Giants needed 38 runs to win the match.

Dwaine Pretorius, who retired from international cricket on Sunday, hit two massive sixes in the 19th over but eventually the team fell 16 runs short of the target.

For Joburg Super Kings, Alzarri Joseph bowled wicket taking spell throughout the innings after conceding 16 runs in his first over. Donavon Ferreira, after scoring 82 off 40 balls with the bat, came with a golden arm and dismissed Quinton de Kock who was looking good on the crease.
