Eden Hazard feels that Vinicius Junior is in better shape
Vinicius Junior became the player of the month according to Real Madrid fans. He is playing in the position of Eden Hazard.
Playing in the starting line-up
Eden Hazard has yet to live up to expectation as a Real Madrid player due to his constant injuries, which have led to a drop in his performances in the last couple of years. The Belgium international is aware that his spot in the starting line-up is not secure due to Vinicius Junior’s great start to the season ahead of Real Madrid’s return to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to face Celta Vigo on Sunday night. Hazard played his last match at Los Blancos’ ground on February 16, 2019, but many things have changed since his first few months at the club, as he is no longer considered as an undisputed starter.
Carlo Ancelotti tried to provide Hazard with a confidence boost at the start of the season and started the 30-year-old in Real Madrid’s first two matches of the 2021/22 campaign. Hazard publicly acknowledged that he owes Real Madrid a lot after they spent big to bring him to the club from Chelsea in the summer of 2019, while he also made clear his intention to rediscover his form in the dressing room and in front of his coach. Meanwhile, Ancelotti has placed his confidence in the Belgium international, but he is not willing to halt Vinicius’ progress.
Only five goals for Real Madrid
Hazard has scored just five goals and has registered nine assists in his 46 official appearances for Real Madrid so far. His injuries have affected him both physically and mentally, but he is confident that he has fully recovered and he is willing to prove his worth, as he looks to re-establish himself in Real Madrid’s starting line-up. With Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale being undisputed starters for the time being, Vinicius started the season in style with three goals in the same number of games.
