Mohamed Salah’s injury in the FA Cup final appears to have still affected the player when he played against Real Madrid in a European tie.

Mohamed Salah struggles with injury

The Reds player has been battling injury for two months and played in the Champions League final despite fitness issues, says Egypt team doctor. The Egypt international was injured in the first half of Liverpool’s FA Cup final win against the Blues on 14 May. Salah was subsequently left out of their next PL match and limited to just 32 minutes in the final domestic game of the season against Wolves amid fears of not being able to play against Real Madrid in the European decider.

What did the doctor say about Salah?

The Liverpool star returned to play the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss in Paris and switched to captain Egypt in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea earlier this month. Mohamed Abou El Ela (Egypt’s team doctor) revealed that Mohamed Salah was still struggling with his injury when he joined the national team. The doctor said that Mohamed Salah’s injury occurred during the FA Cup final in the adductor muscles, then the player played against the wolves and in the Champions League final, all in just 14 days.

According to Mohamed Abou El Ela, they read statistics that he is the second most played player this season. They send and receive players with medical reports and the reds say Salah was in pain and needs to get an x-ray, there is no 100% good player but the question is if he can push himself and play without risk. The club thought one game was enough and they chose the Guinea game because the second against Ethiopia would be difficult for them to travel on a long flight. The doctor says Mohamed Salah couldn’t play another game in three days.
